There are some versions of the driver that function in this way. Be sure you have the latest version of the driver installed for your card. This usually fixes this issue.

My Linux version of DIVAARS closes immediately upon running it. What gives? |

This is caused by DIVAARS not finding a frame buffer that has the necessary parameters (32-bit color, 24-bit depth). Make sure you have your video driver installed properly. It is often useful to run "glxinfo" to see the modes currently supported by your system.
