The IRL will have a poster on our HapMed Extremities-Multiple Application Trainer (E-MAT) device at the IEEE Virtual Reality Conference on March 8-12, 2008 in Reno, NV. We hope to have the E-MAT on display as well! |

The IRL's Glenn Martin will be presenting a paper entitled "Dead Reckoning on the CPU vs. the GPU" at the I/ITSEC conference this week in Orlando, FL. In addition, the IRL is displaying its HapMed haptic arm project both in the IST booth and the U.S. Army RDECOM booth. |

The IRL will receive funding from the Army Research Institute to investigate operator and commander collaboration. The testbed will look at training effectiveness of various collaboration methods and what is needed to make the collaboration overall more effective. |

The IRL heard that it will receive funding to set-up a new Game-based Training Research Testbed from the Army Research Institute. The testbed will look at training effectiveness of game-based training and what is needed to make it effective. Our initial focus will be on after action review, however. |

New Tracking System Installed |

The IRL has received and installed a wide-area, low-latency tracking system as part of a new augmented reality research testbed. As part of a DoD DURIP grant, a HiBaill tracking system from 3rd Tech was purchased to track almost the entire laboratory space to provide a mobile environment. The system will be used to explore training and other uses for Army and other applications. |
