VESS 4.1.0 has been released! We added support for the PhaseSpace Motion Digitizer, native support for all Intersense motion tracking devices, a new "first person shooter" like motion model, a particle system class, support for the OpenGL shading language (GLSL), automatic normal generation in the OSG version, and fixed a number of bugs and issues (see the Release Notes for full information -- much too large to list here!). |

VESS 4.0.0 has been released! The new version includes a number of new capabilities including support for programmable shading, avatar skinning algorithms for improved visual avatars, multi-texturing, pixel buffers for off-screen rendering, voice management capability for sounds, an enhanced collision detection algorithm for articulated objects (to support grabbing objects within the virtual environment), support for inverse kinematics, a new "on screen" 2-D and 3-D menu system, and chromakey compositing and 1394 camera support (to support augmented and mixed reality). A number of bugs that were found were also fixed. As usual, the new release can be found at vess.ist.ucf.edu. |

VESS 3.0.0 has been released! We have added haptics (CyberGrasp and PHANToM) support as well as olfactory (ScentAir's ScentKiosk). We also have a Windows port under both OpenGL Performer and Open Scene Graph. A "remote configuration interface," video textures, a sphere intersection method, a sequencer with minimum latency support, and haptic related motion models have been added. Support for the Northern Digital Polaris has also been added, and a number of bugs fixed. See the Release Notes for full information. As usual, the new release can be found on the download page. |

VESS 2.0.0 has been released! The big news is support for the Open Scene Graph API (as well as OpenGL Performer). In addition, we have switched the compilation system to use the autoconf utility (see the User's Guide for full instructions). A number of small enhancements were made as well as some bugs fixed. See the Release Notes for full information. As usual, the new release can be found on the download page. |
